Well now we can see what happens with all that burned lime as I’m assigned to the masonry crew today! HARD WORK, what I thought I came to Jamaica for the Run, Sun, and Red Stripes…. Right, I spent the day helping the crew sift and mix sand for the mortar and lay bricks at the Church View House, so called as it sits across the street from the Anglican Church (one of the biggest buildings in Falmouth).
It was great to see the process, lay some bricks, and see how it all comes together…. Definitely brings my building materials & conservation class to life. Chris, you would be proud at my mortar & pointing skills. The highlight - meeting the little girl who lives there and realizing it’s her home we are saving. This experience is worth all the Red Stripes in Jamaica!
