Cockpit Country – man what a crazy place! I’ve seen a lot of rugged places and hiked a lot of places that are hard to get to, but the weathered limestone is really sharp, unstable, and the over grown jungle and mosquitoes don’t help! Did I mention it’s hot too? It’s no surprise that the mighty British military came to a halt during the Maroon Wars and opted to sign a treaty with the escaped slaves that called this area home. After a short hike in, we made it to Windsor Cave and did a little spelunking and met the local bat population. Its amazing how much a flapping towel sounds like a bat in a dark cave, sorry Janice.
