What would you do if you returned to Jamaica?

Worth the hype!

Sunday - July 10, 2010

After a day at the beach, we headed down to the Negril lighthouse and the world famous Rick’s Café. Believe it or not this is one attraction that definitely lives up to the hype! This massive bar is perched over the rocky cliffs of western Jamaica and is the ideal spot for watching the sun set. It is also the ideal spot to practice the art of cliff diving into the crystal clear blue waters below. After a few test dives at the 10 ft spot it was onward and upward to the 25 ft jump…. Man, it didn’t look that high from the water! After a few deep breaths I was airborne but not for long. With a big splash, I survived the dive. If you ever make it to Jamaica, Rick’s Café needs to be on the list of places to visit. I’d put it right up there with Dunns River Falls. Just be sure to bring your swimsuit and your courage.

Speaking of courage, time to get back in the rental car and head home through Savana-la-Mar and the sugar cane fields of southern Jamaica. Thanks Janice for the great driving and putting up with me ‘Watch out for the pot hole’ ‘Watch out for the guy on the bike’ ‘Watch out for the goat’ ‘WATCH OUT FOR….’
