Another day at the Tharp House documenting, photographing, measuring, drawing and trying not to have the whole place collapse on us. It is amazing to see how the location of the house plays into the power role, trade structure and plantation operations. From the front porch one has a commanding view of the entire harbor and can keep an eye on what is going and coming into town. Today, one can see all the work that is going into the new cruise ship port and what an impact that will have on the entire community. One can’t help but wonder what John Tharp would think of all this. If the walls could talk what stories would they tell?
