Just as we were getting rolling with our urban planning skills, it was time to partake in yet another exercise near and dear to all planners hearts – a stakeholders meeting. Well there went the rest of my day. It was definitely interesting to see all these players from all these different organizations come together to try and flesh things out in a different cultural context. Still, it didn’t take long to see a public meeting in any country generally boils down to a power point presentation and a exercise in finger pointing. Oh the joys of planning can be felt the world over but at least the meeting room was air conditioned!
Something was missing today. Janice, the other ICOMOS intern, went back to New York for a wedding this weekend, and Jamaica won’t be the same without her. Hope she comes back.
