Better Late than Never

Not another Monday planning meeting… Why, yes just because I’m working in another country does not mean I am immune to the Monday meeting to discuss everything that was not accomplished last week. Surprisingly, we started almost on time (be sure to apply the usual 15 minute Jamaican time rule). With the local announcements about the proposed plans for Water Square going out the Chamber of Commerce as well as the organization of a weekend expo, the meeting was packed. There were some heated discussions and emotions were high! It was great to finally see people involved, passionate and engaged. That’s one of the amazing things about planning and community participation, its only when people see an immediate action or threat that they voice their concerns and get involved. Despite the drawn out length of a Monday afternoon meeting, it was very exciting to see some actual community involvement.
